Niet alleen in beleggersland, maar in het gehele land, nee in de gehele wereld gaat het er geen nieuwsitem voorbij, zonder dat inflatie wordt aangehaald. Is dat raar? Nee, de inflatie is in decennia niet zo hoog geweest en het een economische graadmeter is die ons allen direct \u2018raakt\u2019. Ik legde laatst mijn dochter van 13 uit wat inflatie is en ze begreep het meteen. Ik heb het wel eens lastiger gehad met het overbrengen van bepaalde zaken aan haar\u2026\u2026<\/p>

Is inflatie belangrijk?<\/strong><\/p>

Ik wil die vraag beantwoorden vanuit een beetje een filosofische inslag, met uw goedkeuren. Inflatie geeft aan wat de prijsstijgingen zijn geweest tot dat moment. En dat moment vindt in het verleden plaats. Als belegger en als mens gaat het ons voornamelijk om de toekomst. De huidige prijzen komen we elke dag tegen als we naar de supermarket, bouwmarkt of het caf\u00e9 gaan.<\/p>

Het gaat er volgens mij meer om dat de verwachting is de inflatie in de toekomst! Want daar baseren wij, de wereld en dus de economie ons gedrag op af.<\/p>

Wat is inflatie?<\/strong><\/p>

Ik zou dit deel natuurlijk achterwegen kunnen laten, immers als mijn dochter van 13 het al direct begrijpt\u2026\u2026 Toch wil ik hier even bij stil staan. Het is namelijk belangrijk om een goed antwoord te kunnen geven over de verwachte inflatie. Inflatie is de algemene stijging van prijzen van goederen en diensten. Daar is een onderverdeling te maken tussen: 1) dagelijkse boodschappen 2) duurzame consumptiegoederen (zoals kleding) en 3) diensten (kappers, huurwoningen, etc.). Binnen dit \u2018boodschappenmandje\u2019 worden de verschillende groepen apart gewogen. Dit kunt u zien op het onderstaande plaatje:<\/p>

In het overzicht ziet u de prijsstijgingen over november in de Eurozone (op 20 januari a.s. worden de cijfers van december officieel bekend gemaakt). Twee grote stijgingen vallen direct op: die van \u2018Housing, electricity, gas, etc.\u2019: 9,1%  en  \u2018Transport\u2019: 12,2%. Als ik u vervolgens vertel dat Housing een weging heeft van 17,7% en Transport van 13,7% tegen bijvoorbeeld \u2018Communication\u2019 dat een weging van 3,2% heeft, dan ziet u duidelijk dat deze twee de drijvers zijn (voor de maand november en ook voor het gehele jaar) achter de gemiddelde prijsstijging tot 4,9%.<\/p>\n

De toekomst<\/strong><\/p>\n

Om een inschatting te maken wat de verwachte inflatie zal zijn voor 2022, is een belangrijke onderliggende waarde die van olie en gas. Een prijsstijging daar betekent vrijwel meteen dat ook de andere prijzen zullen stijgen en vice versa. Het is moeilijk om je daar een mening over te vormen, daarom heb ik voor het gemak \u00e9\u00e9n<\/u> studie (want er zijn veel studies hieromtrent) erbij gepakt van het EIA, zie hieronder:<\/p>\n

U kunt zien dat deze organisatie verwacht dat de (twee belangrijkste) olieprijzen gaan dalen in 2022. Mochten zij gelijk krijgen dan is er dus een grote kans dat de inflatie sterk gaat afnemen.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Conclusie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Het is belangrijk om te weten hoe de inflatie berekening tot stand komt om vervolgens de exercitie te kunnen maken over de verwachte inflatie. En dat laatste is belangrijker, mijns inziens, dan het inflatie cijfer dat in het verleden ligt\u2026..<\/p>\n

De belangrijkste taak van de ECB is inflatie bestrijding, echter zij geven ook eerlijk toe dat het moeilijk is om een goede inschatting te maken van de toekomstige inflatie…. Daarom moet u het maar zelf doen. Een leuke manier is om uw eigen inflatie te bereken van de producten en diensten die u zelf koopt. Hopelijk ligt die veel lager dan het Europese gemiddelde\u2026<\/p>\n
