Willen we wel terug naar normaal?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vorig jaar was memorabel in vele opzichten maar niet echt een jaar dat wie dan ook graag wil herhalen. Toch heeft het niet alleen kommer en kwel opgeleverd. Het is heel duidelijk geworden dat niet alles wat we \u2018normaal\u2019 vonden ook echt goed was voor onze persoonlijke gezondheid, de wereldwijde welvaart of onze planeet. Het is tijd om het \u2018normaal\u2019 te herdefini\u00ebren. Als we onze samenleving en economie opnieuw opstarten, is er een enorme kans om een wereld te cre\u00ebren die gelukkiger, gezonder, ethischer en gelijkwaardiger is. Maar het zal veel durf, veel samenwerking en veel sterkte vergen om dit te bereiken.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

De verantwoordelijkheid van bedrijven<\/strong>
\nDuurzaamheid werd in eerste instantie door veel bedrijven omarmd omdat ze daarmee scoren bij het publiek. Maar dat publiek blijkt niet zo makkelijk te bedotten. Ondertussen zijn er serieuze richtlijnen opgesteld: de zogenaamde Environmental Social and Governance normen. De grote beursgenoteerde bedrijven passen hun beleid aan en dat valt uitermate goed bij beleggers. Ook de diverse beleggingspartijen hebben speciale beleggingsfondsen voor duurzaam beleggen. Ook bij ons op kantoor merken we dat onze klanten steeds vaker voor duurzame beleggingen kiezen.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

De uitdagingen<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bedrijven zullen hoogstwaarschijnlijk altijd blijven opscheppen over die ESG-doelen die ze wel bereiken. Dat is normaal. Maar tegelijkertijd zullen er altijd bepaalde ESG-doelen zijn waarmee ze worstelen – sommige bedrijven zijn gewoon beter in staat om bepaalde doelen te bereiken, en van geen enkel bedrijf kan worden verwacht dat het elke doelstelling alleen bereikt.<\/p>\n

In de toekomst moeten bedrijven hulp zoeken en samenwerken om hun ESG-doelstellingen te bereiken. Een goed voorbeeld zijn farmaceutische bedrijven. Voor de productie van geneesmiddelen zijn ze vaak afhankelijk van zuiver water. Farma-organisaties zouden kunnen werken met startups zoals Desolenator, die met zonne-energie betaalbaar drinkwater uit zee maken, in plaats van bestaande waterbronnen af te tappen.<\/p>\n

2020 heeft de prioriteiten van mensen op talloze manieren veranderd. De consument heeft nu nog meer de voorkeur voor duurzaamheid en eist dit nu ook van de producenten. Uit onderzoek in het Verenigd Koninkrijk blijkt dat 73% van de klanten nu verwacht dat online retailers recyclebare verpakkingen gebruiken. Ruim een derde van de consumenten koopt alleen nog producten die van natuurlijke grondstoffen zijn gemaakt en\/of uit de omgeving komen. 4 van de 5 Texanen gelooft inmiddels in klimaatverandering. Lage prijzen zullen zeker meer dan ooit in twijfel worden getrokken. In 2021 hebben bedrijven volledig inzicht nodig in hun supply chain, zodat ze ervoor kunnen zorgen dat ze ethisch en duurzaam handelen.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Samenwerking op grote schaal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bedrijven die samenwerken om hun duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen te bereiken is \u00e9\u00e9n ding, maar om wereldwijde doelstellingen te bereiken, zoals het verlagen van de temperatuurstijging tot 1,5%, zullen industrie\u00ebn moeten samenwerken. Zo heeft het Verenigd Koninkrijk besloten alle huizen in 2030 van stroom van windenergie te voorzien. Om dit te bereiken, zal een enorme hoeveelheid infrastructuur moeten worden opgezet. De uitrol van elektrische auto’s kampt met hetzelfde probleem. Nu 2030 steeds dichterbij komt, zal de vraag naar infrastructuurmaterialen en -diensten exponentieel groeien. Dit omvat zaken als laadpalen, wegen en windturbines. Flexibiliteit en samenwerking zullen het nieuwe normaal moeten worden.<\/p>\n
